Alpine Mountaineering in Switzerland
This expedition is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 17+ from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
This is a 10-day introduction to alpine mountaineering in the Swiss Alps.
The course content includes navigation skills, clothing and equipment, access and conservation, Alpine mountain hazards, weather, glacier skills including crevasse rescue, short roping techniques, sport climbing and high altitude alpine trekking.
Candidates will be transported to and from the Swiss Alps by minibus; all members of the expedition will be accommodated under canvas on a self catering basis. Mountaineering and camping equipment can be provided by CCAT if required. Full expedition insurance and instruction is included.
Candidates must have completed an SMP/SMF, be reasonably mountain fit, able to carry an expedition rucksack over prolonged distances and have a keen interest in climbing and mountaineering.
The personal contribution for this course is £250; bids must be placed through WESTMINSTER and will not be excepted until the course fee has been received.Personal contributions will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing. All administration costs will be deducted from personal contributions prior to any refund being issued. This could be as much as £150.
