BCU Foundation Modules, Coaching the Mind – Coaching Young Paddlers

This course is open to CFAV’s from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a back fill basis.

These modules are ideally suited to paddlesport coaches at all levels working with young people both within the Cadet Forces and out.

The BCU Foundation Modules – Coaching the Mind, this module aims introduce coaches to the role of mental skills in paddlesport development and performance and to relate the area of mental skills training to coaching and paddler development and provide some working definitions.

Coaching Young Paddlers has been introduced in recognition of the hundreds of thousands of young people who are instructed by BCU coaches ever year and the importance of providing the best support and help to meet their needs. It is designed to help coaches who may work with young people aiming for Olympic success or those providing someone’s very first experience of paddlesport. It aims to help coaches deliver sessions in a way that meet young people’s needs, so that they want to come back for more and that they help young paddlers to be the best they can be, whatever their ability or aspirations.

Delivery for each module will take the form of a 3 hour theory session in the morning followed by a practical application session in afternoon.

The personal contribution for this course is £35; bids must be placed through Westminster and will not be excepted until the course fee has been received.

Personal contributions will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.

There will be 12 places on this course.
