Basic Rock Climbing (BRC)
This course is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 16 and over from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
This is a 5-day introduction to rock climbing in the single pitch environment. The content includes clothing and equipment, access and conservation, mountain hazards, weather, care and use of equipment, rope management and knot tying, belaying techniques, climbing techniques, single pitch climbing, abseiling, setting up belays, gear placement/protection, introduction to leading in the outdoor and indoor environment.
Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a CCAT brassard badge (cadets only) and BRC course certificate.
The personal contribution for this course is £35; bids must be placed through WESTMINSTER and will not be excepted until the course fee has been received.
Personal contributions will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.

Rock Climbing Foundation (RCF)
This course is open to CFAV’s and Cadets aged 16+ as indicated from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
These are 5-day introduction course to rock climbing in a multi pitch environment. The content includes clothing and equipment, access and conservation, mountain hazards, weather, care and use of equipment, rope management and knot tying, belaying techniques, climbing techniques, multi pitch climbing, abseiling, setting up belays, gear placement/protection, introduction to leading in the outdoor and indoor environment.
Cadets must have successfully completed a BRC as a minimum pre-requisite to attend this course, CFAV’s can enter directly at this level.
Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a course certificate and RCF brassard badge (cadets only).

Winter Climbing Foundation (WCF)
This course is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 17 and over from the ACF and CCF (Army) section. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
This is a 6 day introduction to snow and ice climbing in a winter enviroment. The content includes clothing and equipment, winter mountain hazards, weather, elimentory climbing skills to grade 2/3, emergency shelters, use of crampons and ice axe, Ice axe arrest and short roping skills. For CFAV’s this can be used as CPD and logbook experience towards a MLTS Mountain Leader Winter Training course.
Candidates must have successfully completed a WMP/WMF and BRC/RCF or equivalent as a minimum pre-requisite to attending this course.
