This course is open to CFAV’s from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis. The minimum age for this course is 18.
The British Cycling Level 2 Mountain Bike Leadership Award (MBLST) is a 2 day training course, which enables experienced mountain bikers to safely guide riders in mountainous terrain and provide them with a great day out. The award will qualify you to lead in non-adventurous terrain in strictly summer and intermediate seasonal conditions and in terrain of low-moderate technical difficulty (as a general guide this is comparable to red graded purpose built trails). There is no height limit however leaders must ensure they are no more than 30 minutes walk away from rescue.
The award is ideally suited for experienced mountain bikers allowing them to gain all the information needed to go out on their mountain bikes, be safe and have fun.
Prior to attending this training course candidates must have:
- Completed at least 15 mountain bike rides, at least half of which should be on wild trails and in varying weather conditions with 11 rides of 2-3 hours of duration.
- Candidates must have registered with the British Cycling (BC) for the Mountain Bike Leadership Level 2 Award at a personal cost of £104.00. This includes: BC membership, registration on the scheme and resources; if you are already a member of British Cycling, your fee will be £67.00. This should be done at least 3/4 weeks prior to the course.
