Halton Training Camp
This course is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 16+ from the ACF and CCF. CFAV ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
This is a 5-day introduction to open canoeing (O2F) in a sheltered water environment. Candidates must be water confident and be able to swim 25mts wearing a Buoyancy Aid.
The course content includes clothing and equipment, access and conservation, river hazards and grading, weather, lifting, carrying and launching, efficient forward paddling, manoeuvring the canoe in confined spaces, sideways movement, poling and self/group rescues. This course includes a two day expedition involving river navigation, campcraft and expedition equipment.
Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a CCAT O2F brassard badge (cadets only) and course certificate.
Candidates who successfully complete both K2F and O2F will be awarded with a BCU 2 star award.
For CFAV’s this is the skills entry level for the BCU UKCC Level 1 Coaching qualification.
The personal contribution for this course is £40; bids must be placed through WESTMINSTER and will not be accepted until the course fee has been received. Personal contributions will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.
