Summer Mountain Foundation (SMF)

This course is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 16 and over from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.

This is a 5 day introduction to mountaineering in summer conditions. The content includes navigation skills, clothing and equipment, access and conservation, mountain hazards, weather, campcraft, and includes a two day mountain expedition with an overnight wild camp.  For Adults it can be used as CPD and logbook experience towards a MLTE Mountain Leader award.

Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a CCAT SMF  brassard badge (cadets only) and course certificate.

The personal contribution for this course is £35; bids must be placed through WESTMINSTER and will not be excepted until the course fee has been received.

Personal contributions will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.

Winter Mountain Foundation (WMF)

This course is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 16 and over from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.

The Winter Mountain Foundation is a 6-day introduction to mountaineering in a winter enviroment.

The course includes winter navigation skills, clothing and equipment, access and conservation, winter mountain hazards, snow structure, avalanche awareness and Snow holing incorporating a overnight expedition.

Candidates must have attained the SMP award or equivalent (12 x QMDs summer mountaineering) as pre-course requirement.

The personal contribution for this course is £50; bids must be placed through WESTMINSTER and will not be excepted until the course fee has been received.
Personal contributions will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.

Mountain Leader Winter Progression (WLP)

This course is open to CFAV’s from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.

The Mountain Leader Winter Progression is a 6-day course open to CFAV’s who have completed either the WMP or Mountain Leader Winter Training course to provide a stepping stone towards honing their skills and acquiring additional logbook experience in preparation for attending a Mountain Leader Winter Training or Assessment course.

Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a CCAT  WLP course certificate.

The personal contribution for this course is £50; bids must be placed through WESTMINSTER and will not be excepted until the course fee has been received.

There will be 6 vacancies on this course.
