Sea Kayaking 2* Foundation (ISK)
This course is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 16 and over from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
This is a 5-day introduction to sea kayaking (ISK) ina sheltered coastal water enviroment. Candidates must be water confident and be able to swim 25mts wearing a Buoyancy Aid.
The course content includes clothing and equipment, access and conservation, weather, coastal navigation, Lifting, carrying and launching, efficient forward paddling, Manoeuvring the sea kayak, sideways movement and self/group rescues. This course has an optional two day expedition including one night wild camping.
Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a CCAT brassard badge (cadets only) and course certificate.
Candidates who successfully complete both ISK and O2F will be issued with a BCU 2 star award. For CFAV’s this is the skills entry level for the BCU UKCC Level 1 Coaching qualification.
The personal contribution for this course is £35; bids must be placed through WESTMINSTER and will not be excepted until the course fee has been received.
Personal contributions will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.

BCU 3* Sea Kayak (S3N)
This course is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 16 and over from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
This is a 5-day BCU 3* intermediate Sea Kayaking course in a moderate tidal environment. Candidates must be water confident and be able to swim 25mts wearing a Buoyancy Aid.
The course content includes clothing and equipment, access and conservation, weather, coastal navigation, Lifting, carrying and launching, efficient forward paddling, Manoeuvring the sea kayak, sideways movement and self/group deep water rescues and rolling.
Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a CCAT brassard badge (cadets only) and BCU 3* Sea course certificate.
For CFAV’s this is the skills entry level for the BCU UKCC Level 2 Coaching qualification.
Candidates must have the following pre-requisites to attend this course:
Hold BCU new 2 star award or successfully complete a CCAT introduction to Sea Kayaking.
Have logbook evidence of a minimum of 3 different journeys on the sea of at least 3 hours duration (10 nautical miles) and at least 1 session of 3 hours minimum in an alternative craft.
