Capel Curig Training Camp
This course is open to CFAV’s and Cadets aged 16 plus from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC CFAV bids are welcome on a top up basis only.
This is a 5 day intermediate inland WW Kayak course delivered in a moving water environment (Grade 2).
Candidates must have the following pre-requisites to attend this course:
• Be water confident and be able to swim 25mts.
• Hold the BCU 2 star award or KFC/K2F and consolidated skills with further experience.
• Have logbook evidence of at least 3 journeys on varying sheltered and 3 on moving waters (grade 2) of at least a 4 hour Duration (10Km)
The course content includes clothing and equipment, access and conservation, river hazards and grading, weather, lifting, carrying and launching, efficient forward/reverse paddling, edging, moving sideways, support strokes, breaking in/out, ferry gliding, group/self/deep water rescues, rolling and safety training.
Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a BCU 3* White Water certificates. For CFAV’s this is the skills entry level for the BCU UKCC Level 2 Coaching qualification.
To apply, candidates are to complete a CCAT Course application; this along with the course fee is to be sent to the candidate’s ACF County HQ or CCF Contingent HQ for authorisation and for the bid to be placed on WESTMINSTER. Candidates are to ensure the course application is clearly legible and completed in full. The personal contribution for this course is £40. Course payments will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.
