This course is open to CFAV’s from the ACF and CCF (Army) section. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis. The BC AB Moderate Water Leader (WW) course is a 2-day training followed by a further 2-day assessment course.
This qualification is discipline specific (Open Canoe) and is relevant for coaches who wish to lead a group of paddlers in the white water environment, Grade 2 (3).
Training Prerequisites
To be able to get the most out of the training candidates should be able to paddle to the standard of the British Canoeing 3 Star White Water Canoe.
The course content includes clothing and equipment, access and conservation, river hazards and grading, weather, Forward paddling
Breaking in and out, ferry gliding, S-turns, Surf small waves, Paddle into and out of small stoppers, moving sideways on the move, supporting and rolling.
To apply, candidates are to complete a CCAT Course application; this along with the course fee is to be sent to the candidate’s ACF County HQ or CCF Contingent HQ for authorisation and for the bid to be placed on WESTMINSTER. Candidates are to ensure the course application is clearly legible and completed in full. The personal contribution for this course is £40. Course payments will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.
