This exciting expedition is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 17+ from the ACF and CCF.CFAV ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
Candidates must be physically fit and have a head for heights as this is not a course for novice climbers and mountaineers.
This is a 10-day introduction to alpine climbing/mountaineering course which will be based in the area around Saas-Grund in the Swiss Alps. Candidates must have completed an SMF and BRC or have extensive equivalent experience,
The course content includes glacier skills including crevasse rescue, short roping techniques, rock climbing, via ferrata and alpine mountaineering.
This will be a tented expedition using a valley based campsite and the occasional overnight in an alpine mountain hut. The expedition will be on a self-catering basis. Mountaineering and camping equipment can be provided by CCAT if required. Travel, expedition insurance and instruction is included.
To apply, candidates are to complete a CCAT Course application; this along with a 50% course deposit payment is to be sent to the candidate’s ACF County HQ or CCF Contingent HQ for authorisation and for the bid to be placed on WESTMINSTER. Candidates are to ensure the course application is clearly legible and completed in full. The personal contribution for this course is £250.00. Course payments will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.
All applications will be vetted by OC CCAT before being accepted.
