This expedition is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 17+from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
This is an 8-day single and multi-pitch ice climbing expedition incorporating the JS Winter Climbing Foundation award. This is an opportunity to climb single and multi-pitch graded ice routes to gain further logbook experience.
Candidates must have successfully completed a BRC/RCF and have experience of working in a cold winter environment (-20 degrees) as a minimum pre-requisite to attending this course.
This course includes clothing and equipment, winter mountain hazards, avalanche awareness, care and use of equipment, rope management and knot tying, belaying techniques, ice climbing techniques, multi pitch climbing, abseiling, belays systems, gear placement/protection, introduction to leading on ice.
Candidates will be transported to and from Norway by air; all members of the expedition will be accommodated in apartments on a self-catering basis. Climbing equipment will be provided by CCAT if required. Full expedition insurance and instruction is included.
The personal contribution for this course is £450; bids must be placed through WESTMINSTER and will not be accepted until the course fee has been received.Personal contributions will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing. All administration costs will be deducted from personal contributions prior to any refund being issued. This could be as much as £250.
