Restrictions. This course is open to CFAV’s and Cadets aged 17years + from the ACF and CCF. This is not a course for novices as the candidate does require outdoor rock climbing experience plus a good head for heights. Candidates must have successfully completed the BRC course or have the equivalent experience which must be identified on the CCAT course application
Course Content. The Alicante region boasts some the best bolted rock climbing in Europe offering a huge variety of single and multi- pitch rock climbs to suit all levels of climber. The CADETROCK expedition is an 8-day course in a multi-pitch environment predominantly on bolted routes. The content includes clothing and equipment, access and conservation, mountain hazards, weather, care and use of equipment, rope management and knot tying, belaying techniques, climbing techniques, multi pitch climbing, abseiling, setting up anchors, gear placement/protection and, subject to skill level, an introduction to leading in the outdoor and indoor environment. The outcome is for the candidate to be a competent second on a multi pitch rock climb.
Notes. Candidates should be physically fit, free from injury and have a keen interest in adventurous activities. This course may be used towards a gold DofE residential project. Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a CCAT course certificate and brassard badge (cadets only).
*The course cost includes: transport from and back to the UK, accommodation, meals, technical clothing and equipment and instruction.
*The course will be based at a lodge in Albir, Alicante Region, Spain
CCAT Application Process.
A CCAT course application is available on WESTMINSTER and the CCAT website www.armycadetadventure.co.uk. An electronic course application is required to be placed onto WESTMINSTER by your ACF/CCF unit. The CCAT course application form should be completed in full, is legible, signed and authorised by your unit ACF/CCF. A 50% deposit is required.
The fully completed CCAT course application should then be sent to HQ CCAT, Capel Curig, either by:
a. Email with the deposit/payment paid by BACs with student name + course i.e. Smith – Cadetrock in the banking reference (preferable).
b. Post with a cheque made payable to CCAT ensuring the name of the student and course is written on the back of the cheque.
