Restrictions. This is open to CFAV’s and Cadets aged 16 years + from the ACF and CCF.
Course Content. The Ski Foundation Level 1 (SF1) is a 5-day introduction to alpine skiing. The content includes clothing and equipment, winter hazards, ski safety and the FIS code, Central Theme: introductory activities, sliding, snowplough, snowplough turning, plough-paralleling and piste navigation. This is linked to the fundamentals of control of speed & line, adjustments for snow & terrain, steering; edge, pressure & rotation control, body management; posture, balance, movements & co-ordination, flow; smooth linked movements. The outcome for the course is for the candidate to demonstrate a competent level of alpine skiing skills as a member of a led group on alpine green/blue graded slopes within a marked pisted ski area.
Notes. Candidates should be physically fit, free from injury and have a keen interest in adventurous activities. This course may be used towards a gold DofE residential project. Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a CCAT course certificate and brassard badge (cadets only).
*The course cost includes: transport from and back to the UK, accommodation, meals, technical clothing and equipment and instruction.
*The course will be based at a lodge in Sonthofen, Bavaria.
CCAT Application Process.
A CCAT course application is available on WESTMINSTER and the CCAT website www.armycadetadventure.co.uk. The course fee is £500.00. An electronic course application is required to be placed onto WESTMINSTER by your ACF/CCF unit. The CCAT course application form should be completed in full, is legible, signed and authorised by your unit ACF/CCF. A 50% deposit of £250 is required.
The fully completed CCAT course application should then be sent to HQ CCAT, Capel Curig, either by:
a. Email with the deposit/payment paid by BACs with student name + course i.e. Smith – Ski2/SF1 in the banking reference (preferable).
b. Post with a cheque made payable to CCAT ensuring the name of the student and course is written on the back of the cheque.
