The Lofoten Islands are an archipelago of islands in Norway far above the Arctic Circle. This rare wilderness outpost offers an amazing landscape of majestic mountains, deep fjords, puffin colonies and long, surf-swept beaches. The CADETSEA expedition is a 10-day course. delivered in a moderate water environment. The course content includes clothing and equipment, lifting, carrying, launching and landing, efficient forward paddling, efficient reverse paddling and stopping, maintaining direction, changing direction, moving sideways, both static and on the move, supporting, both static and on the move, rolling, deep-water rescue, contact tows and use of towline and eskimo rescue. The outcome of this course is for the candidate to demonstrate personal competence in their sea paddling skills in a moderate water environment (wind up to and including Beaufort Force 3 or Sea State 3), as part of a led group. The British Canoeing Sea Award is incorporated into this course.
