The CPD is a unique 5-day course opportunity for CFAVs to update their skills and knowledge as well as an opportunity to acquire quality logbook experience. It is an ideal for those who are already NGB qualified to update with current best practice or those on the pathway towards attaining a NGB qualification to acquire essential logbook experience and skill development. The course will be tailored to meet the needs of the candidates who may wish to focus on the development of particular skills. The CPD week will cover practical workshops for the following activities:
*Rock Climbing – there will be an opportunity to include the Mountain Training ‘Learn To Lead Trad’ or ’Learn To Lead Sport’ modules. Candidates will be required to register with Mountain Training to complete these accredited modules. There will also be an opportunity to include a teaching and learning module for indoor climbing.
*Paddlesport – there will be an opportunity to gain logbook journey experience in a Sheltered or Moderate Water environment. It will also include refresher training on Foundation Safety and Rescue skills.
*Mountaineering – there will be an opportunity to gain logbook journey experience for mountaineering or hill walking. It will also include refresher training on navigation and security on steep ground.
*Mountain Biking – ther will be an opportunity to gain logbook journey experience.
*Ensure you identify a specific activity on the CCAT course application that you would like to further develop during the course.
Additionally there will be evening workshops on risk management in the adventure environment (outcome vs process), expedition planning, key NGB updates on transitional leadership in the adventure environment and teaching and learning in the adventure environment now included in the NGB syllabuses.
