The Introduction to Mountain Scrambling (IMS) is a 5 day course. This course is open to Senior Cadets and CFAV’s from the ACF and CCF. The minimum age is 16. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
This is not a course for novices as the applicant does require a combination of some mountaineering and rock climbing experience plus a good head for heights. The CCAT SMF and BRC qualification would be an advantage but not essential however equivalent pre course skills are required.
The aim of this course is to introduce students to mountain scrambling on easy to moderate graded scrambles. This is a natural progression in summer mountaineering for any Senior Cadets or CFAV who have completed the Summer Mountain Foundation(SMF) and/or anyone who is seeking additional log book experience towards the MT Mountain Leader (Summer) qualification.
Mountain scrambling is a fun activities and this course is a unique opportunity to experience even more challenging mountain terrain pitched at a level commensurate with the individuals of experience on such classics as Crib Goch Ridge.
To apply, candidates are to complete a CCAT Course application; this along with the course fee is to be sent to the candidate’s ACF County HQ or CCF Contingent HQ for authorisation and for the bid to be placed on WESTMINSTER. Candidates are to ensure the course application is clearly legible and completed in full. The personal contribution for this course is £40.
