Capel Curig Training Camp
This course is open to CFAV’s and Cadets from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC CFAV bids are welcome on a top up basis only.
This is a 5 day introduction to sea kayaking in a sheltered coastal water environment. Candidates must be water confident and be able to swim 25mts.
The course content includes clothing and equipment, access and conservation, weather, coastal navigation, Lifting, carrying and launching, efficient forward paddling, Manoeuvring the sea kayak, sideways movement and self/group rescues. This course has an optional two day expedition including a one night wild camp. Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a Course certificate and brassard badge (cadets only).
Candidates who successfully complete both kayak (ISK/K2F) and canoe (O2F) foundation courses will be issued with a BCU 2 star award. For CFAV’s this is the skills entry level for the BCU UKCC Level 1 Coaching qualification.
To apply, candidates are to complete a CCAT Course application; this along with the course fee is to be sent to the candidate’s ACF County HQ or CCF Contingent HQ for authorisation and for the bid to be placed on WESTMINSTER. Candidates are to ensure the course application is clearly legible and completed in full. The personal contribution for this course is £40. Course payments will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.
