This course is open to CFAV’s from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis. The minimum age is 18. The MT Climbing Wall Instructor Assessment (CWIA) including Abseil Module is a 2 day assessment course.
The CWIA is ideally suited for climbers who wish to introduce roped climbing, abseiling, and bouldering sessions or teach basic climbing techniques on artificial indoor or outdoor climbing walls/boulders/towers to novices.
Prior to applying for an assessment course candidates must have attained the following pre-course standards:
•You must have attended a Climbing Wall Instructor training course or have been granted exemption
•You must be familiar with the syllabus
•You must have logged a minimum of 30 visits to at least three different climbing walls
•You must have led a minimum of 40 climbs in indoor walls
•You must be confident at climbing routes at Fr 4
•You must have assisted in the supervision of at least 15 instructed sessions on at least two different walls including a large public facility in a variety of contexts
•You must hold a current first aid certificate, minimum 8 hours and relevant to your work as a Climbing Wall Instructor holder
•The Climbing Wall Instructor assessment is a minimum of 6 hours
Candidates cannot complete this assessment without the CWI DLOG.
To apply, candidates are to complete a CCAT Course application; this along with the course fee is to be sent to the candidate’s ACF County HQ or CCF Contingent HQ for authorisation and for the bid to be placed on WESTMINSTER. Candidates are to ensure the course application is clearly legible and completed in full. The personal contribution for this course is £40. Course payments will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.
