Capel Curig Training Camp
This course is open to CFAV’s from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
The MT Climbing Wall Instructor Award (CWI) including Abseil Module is a 3 day training course.
The CWI is ideally suited for climbers who wish to introduce roped climbing, abseiling, and bouldering sessions or teach basic climbing techniques on artificial indoor or outdoor climbing walls/boulders/towers to novices. Candidates cannot complete this training course without the CWI DLOG.
Prior to applying for a training course candidates must have attained the following pre-course standards:
•You must be registered on the scheme
•You must have recorded visits to 3 different climbing walls on at least 15 different occasions; this must include at least one major public wall
•You must have led routes on walls
•You must have an understanding of the wider sport of climbing and ideally have climbed outdoors.
The prerequisites for registration are as follows:
•You must be at least 17 years old (18 at assessment)
•You should have at least 6 months of experience of using a variety of climbing walls
•You should have an interest in climbing and in supervising groups on climbing walls
•You must be a member of a mountaineering council: BMC, Mountaineering Scotland or Mountaineering Ireland (you can join one when you register if you’re not already a member)

To apply, candidates are to complete a CCAT Course application; this along with the course fee is to be sent to the candidate’s ACF County HQ or CCF Contingent HQ for authorisation and for the bid to be placed on WESTMINSTER. Candidates are to ensure the course application is clearly legible and completed in full. The personal contribution for this course is £40. Course payments will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.
