This course is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 17 and over from the ACF and CCF. CFAV ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
This is a 5 day introduction to snow and ice climbing in a winter environment. The content includes clothing and equipment, winter mountain hazards, weather, elementary climbing skills to grade 2/3, emergency shelters, use of crampons and ice axe, ice axe arrest and short roping skills. For CFAV’s this can be used as CPD and logbook experience towards a MT Mountain Leader Winter Training course.
Candidates must have successfully completed a WMF and BRC/RCF or equivalent as a minimum pre-requisite to attending this course.
Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a CCAT WCF brassard badge (cadets only) and course certificate.
The personal contribution for this course is £50; bids must be placed through WESTMINSTER and will not be accepted until the course fee has been received.
Personal contributions will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.
