This is a 5 day introduction to climbing in winter conditions.
This course is open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 17+ from the ACF and CCF. ATC and SCC bids are welcome on a fill up basis.
Candidates should be reasonably physically fit, free from injury and have a keen interest in adventurous activities.
Prior to attending a course candidates must have successfully completed a WMF and BRC/RSF or equivalent as a minimum pre-requisite to attending this course.
The course content includes clothing and equipment, winter mountain hazards, weather, elementary climbing skills to grade 2/3, emergency shelters, use of crampons and ice axe, Ice axe arrest and short roping skills.
Candidates enrolled in the DofE at gold level may use this course as a residential project.
Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be issued a Course certificate and brassard badge (cadets only).
To apply, candidates are to complete a CCAT Course application; this along with the course fee is to be sent to the candidate’s ACF County HQ or CCF Contingent HQ for authorisation and for the bid to be placed on WESTMINSTER. Candidates are to ensure the course application is clearly legible and completed in full. The personal contribution for this course is £50. Course payments will not be refunded for any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the course commencing.
